Customer Data & Exit Rights Policy
Last Updated: August 30, 2026
Bridge Web Host believes customers should maintain control of their websites and business data. This policy explains how customer data is handled while using our hosting services and what customers can expect if they choose to move their website to another provider.
1. Your Website Belongs to You
Customers retain ownership of their website content and customer-owned data hosted through Bridge Web Host.
This generally includes:
- Website files
- WordPress databases
- Images and media
- Product information
- Website content
- Customer-created content
- WooCommerce order and customer data
- Customer-owned themes, plugins, and software licenses
- Other customer-provided website data
Hosting your website with Bridge Web Host does not transfer ownership of your website or customer-owned content to Bridge Web Host.
2. Access to Customer Data
As a managed hosting provider, Bridge Web Host may require administrative or technical access to customer websites, files, databases, hosting accounts, logs, and related systems.
This access may be used to:
- Maintain the hosting environment
- Perform White-Glove Migration
- Troubleshoot website problems
- Install or configure security measures
- Monitor for malware or suspicious activity
- Perform WordPress maintenance and updates
- Create or restore backups
- Respond to customer support requests
- Protect the security and stability of our hosting infrastructure
We will use this access only as reasonably necessary to provide and support our services, protect our infrastructure, or comply with applicable legal requirements.
3. Customer Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for the legality, accuracy, and appropriate use of the content and data stored through their hosting account.
Customers should maintain appropriate access controls for WordPress administrators, employees, contractors, and other individuals who have access to their website.
Customers should promptly notify Bridge Web Host if they believe credentials have been compromised or unauthorized access has occurred.
4. Website Backups
Bridge Web Host may maintain backups as part of our managed hosting services and infrastructure.
Backups are intended to support website recovery and business continuity. No backup system can guarantee recovery from every possible hardware failure, software failure, security incident, corruption, or data-loss event.
Customers with business-critical information may maintain additional independent backups when appropriate.
5. Your Right to Leave
Customers may move their website to another hosting provider at any time.
Bridge Web Host will not intentionally lock a customer into our hosting service or withhold customer-owned website files or databases solely because the customer has chosen another hosting provider.
Customers should submit a cancellation request according to our Cancellation Policy to prevent future hosting renewals.
6. Access to Your Website Data When Leaving
While an account remains active and in good standing, customers may request reasonable access to the customer-owned files and database necessary to move their WordPress website to another hosting provider.
This may include, as applicable:
- WordPress website files
- WordPress database
- Uploaded media
- Customer-owned website content
- Customer-owned configuration data reasonably required for migration
Bridge Web Host will reasonably cooperate with customers seeking to transfer their website.
7. Third-Party Licenses and Services
Some websites use themes, plugins, extensions, software licenses, APIs, email services, security products, or other services provided by third parties.
A customer’s right to website data does not automatically transfer ownership of third-party licenses or services owned, purchased, or provided by Bridge Web Host.
Customers moving to another provider may need to purchase or maintain their own licenses for third-party software required by their website.
We will not intentionally represent third-party software as customer-owned when it is subject to separate licensing terms.
8. Migration to Another Provider
Customers may choose to have their new hosting provider migrate their website or request reasonable assistance from Bridge Web Host.
Providing reasonable access to customer-owned website files and databases is part of our normal account closure process.
Additional technical work, custom migration assistance, troubleshooting of the receiving hosting environment, or other professional services beyond providing reasonable access to customer data may be subject to additional charges.
Any such charges will be disclosed before additional work is performed.
9. Outstanding Account Balances
Customers remain responsible for legitimate outstanding charges for services already provided.
An outstanding balance does not transfer ownership of customer website content to Bridge Web Host.
Bridge Web Host may exercise rights available under our Terms & Conditions regarding unpaid or suspended accounts, subject to applicable law.
10. Data Retention After Cancellation
Customers should obtain any website files, databases, email, or other information they wish to retain before their hosting service terminates.
After termination, customer data may be removed from active hosting systems.
Backup copies may remain temporarily within our normal backup systems and may be automatically deleted or overwritten according to our standard backup and retention processes.
Bridge Web Host is not obligated to indefinitely retain data associated with a terminated hosting account.
11. Deleted Data
Once customer data has been permanently removed from active systems and applicable backup systems, it may not be recoverable.
Customers should not rely on Bridge Web Host as a permanent archive after terminating their hosting service.
12. Security and Privacy
Customer data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and security practices.
Bridge Web Host uses reasonable measures designed to protect hosted websites and customer data. However, no internet-connected system can guarantee absolute protection against every security threat or data-loss event.
13. Legal Requirements
Bridge Web Host may preserve, access, or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, court orders, legal process, regulatory requirements, fraud investigations, or legitimate security investigations.
Where legally permitted and appropriate, we will seek to protect the interests and privacy of our customers.
